Make Up Games: Movie Makeup

Ever wondered what it take to make stars looks as great as they do? If you’ve been lucky enough to find a tabloid that has pictures of celebs without their make-up you already know that they often look a lot like us – until they are done up in their movie make-up.

You can play your own make up game by applying the thick coats of make-up used on stage and in the movies for a production of your own. I wouldn’t advise it for school as it might be a bit excessive.

Head to a costume shop or specialty make-up store and explain your desire to do stage or movie make up. You’ll likely be pointed to thicker versions of the kind of make-up you’re already used to. This make-up is designed to smooth your skin and hide anything not-perfect from the audience, so it will feel very heavy on your face.

Apply it like any other make-up, but be sure to apply enough to be seen from a distance. Keep it natural, but strong – You might put on eyeshadow, but use full strokes and do the whole eyelid, not just the lash line.

When you’re ready, turn on your own camera and record a few videos. Then check out how great you looked on camera – just like the stars!
