Make Up Games: 3 Mascara Tips

Mascara can be lifesaver or a very public statement about your makeup skills. Applying mascara correctly can more complicated than you think.

1. Always start at the roots. When you apply mascara, put the brush at the very base of the eyelash. Go ahead and risk getting the mascara on your eye itself the first time or two until you are able to figure out exactly where you need to be to get the roots of you eyelashes. This is especially important if you have light eyelashes.

2. Pick the right color. There are so many colors of mascara that it can be hard to pick the very best one. Ask a sales lady to consult with you or read about your particular coloring online to determine which color of mascara would look good on you. Usually it’s only 1-2 shades darker than your eyes.

3. Don’t put mascara on your bottom lashes. Put on no more than two swipes on each eye on the upper lid. But when it gets to the lower lid, sip the mascara completely or opt only for a very light coating to bring you eyes out without having dark stings of mascara and lashes bringing your eyes down your face.

Make Up Games – Summer Lips

It’s almost summer – at least according to the calendar, which means it’s time to get those summer lips ready.

Exfoliate Your Lips
Your first step will be to remove the dead, dry skin cells that build up on your lips during the dry heat of the indoors during winter. Use a special exfoliating product to do this or try sugar and water to slough off dead skin cells.

Use Moisturizer
Start using a lip moisturizer of one kind or another every night before bed. You’ll heal the damage of the day and wake up with kissable, soft lips. These make an excellent foundation for the rest of your lip routine.

Add Sunscreen
Find a lip product that included a sunscreen. Your lips have a lot of pigment, but they can be hurt in the sun, too. Protect hem as best you can.

Add Gloss
Lipsticks and glitter are too heavy for the summertime. Instead use a light gloss or moisturizer only to keep your look fresh and natural.

Make Up Games – Eyeliner

Eyeliner is easily the most abused make up games item. Eye liner has very limited uses, yet it shows up everywhere, and with too much applied in most cases.

Using Eyeliner Correctly
To use eyeliner correctly, you should be putting it on only for a nighttime event, and usually a special occasion at that. Unless you’re using a eye pencil for a light color around your eyes during the day, eyeliner has no business being on during the daytime.

Eyeliner should also not be used to circle the eye. When you do that, you wind up with eyes that closely resemble a raccoon. Instead of circling your eyes in black or brown, apply the liner into the lashline in small strokes along the top of the eye and in the bottom outside corner of the eye. This makes the top of the eye stand out and the corner is enough to widen your eyes and make the bottom appear larger.

Common Eyeliner Mistakes
In addition to putting the eyeliner around the whole eye, many people make the additional mistake of using a color that is too dark. You don’t have to use black eyeliner, and in fact, very few girls can get away with black eyeliner. Try a lighter brown or taupe for a more natural smoky eye.

Make Up Games and Acne

Girls who have trouble with acne have a more complex approach to make up games. On one hand, make up games can make the skin break out in worse ways if you use make up that contains too many chemicals or oil. On the other hand, make up is one of the few ways you’re able to cover the signs of acne and give your face a smoother appearance.

It’s a complicated decision about wearing make up when you have serious acne, but if you do decide you’d like to wear make up, consider the following.

Don’t wear cheap make up – cheap make up tends to be made with more chemicals and more fragrances and substances that can irritate skin. Often these products are cheaper than the higher quality items in more expensive make up items.

Do find plant or mineral based products – you’ll pay a bit more, but mineral and other natural make ups are healthier for the skin and you’ll be putting natural substances on your face rather than chemicals.

Do wash your face immediately – as soon as you’re finished with your day at school or your special event, wash your face. Keeping your face clean and properly moisturized is the best way to care for your skin.

Make Up Games and Sensitive Skin

Girls with sensitive skin have trouble with make up games as well. When you have sensitive skin, you might have trouble with break outs after wearing make up for even a short period of time, or you might find yourself with an itchy sensation or even a rash.

Sensitive skin must be pampered, and most cheap teen products are not the way to do this. Visit with a reputable make up company in your favorite department or make up store. Ask about cleaning, moisturizing and make up products for sensitive skin. If they don’t have anything you feel comfortable with, move on.

When you do find a product you like and think might work, ask for a sample. Make over your face or at least apply some of the product to your skin before buying. Wait a bit for a possible reaction. You might wait just a few minutes or even come back after a day or two. Most products for sensitive skin are anything but cheap, so you want to be sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

Make Up Games – Skin Care

An important part of make up games is taking care of your skin. To take care of your skin properly, you must use a regular skin care regime.

Wash Your Face – Wash your face every evening to remove the day’s make up and all the grime and sweat that’s accumulated over the hours. Use a cleaner that is not a heavy soap, but light. You might also have to use a special make up remover as well to get the heavier make up around your eyes.

Moisturize – Once you’ve washed off the make up, apply a moisturizer. You can use a heavy moisturizer at night to condition your skin and then use a lighter day-time moisturizer under make up during the day. A night-time formula can work while you’re sleeping, and a lighter moisturizer should be applied before you get ready for the day in the morning.

Keep Make Up Light – When you apply make up, avoid thick coats that will clog skin and cause additional break outs. Thin coats of make up that aren’t heavy with chemicals or perfumes are best for your skin.

Make Up Games – Mineral Makeup

If you haven’t already played make up games with mineral make up, you’re missing out sorely. Mineral make up is not necessarily new, but it is taking the country by storm. Mineral makeup is better for your skin as it is completely natural, unlike many make up products we usually use for makeup games.

Mineral make up is literally crushed minerals combined in special blends to bring about various colors and sheens. You can achieve the look you want by applying more or less make up at a time. The more you apply, the fuller the coverage – the kind of make up suitable for evenings.

With a lighter hand, you can apply just enough make up for a daytime look that is more sheer and light. When you play make up games with friends, mineral make up might very well become the newest addition. The coverage and clean feeling of the make up makes it especially desirable for those who like to play with make up, but aren’t used to wearing it all day long.

Three Make Up Tips for Hot Weather

When the weather turns hot, you need to take special consideration with your make up games. Make up and hot weather don’t always mix.

Start With Sunscreen
When the weather is hot, chances are high that you’ll be outside more often. Being outside means your skin will be more exposed to the sun. This means you need a powerful sun screen. Be sure you find a sunscreen that is also a non-greasy moisturizer. Many facial moisturizers have sunscreen built in.

Try Loose Powder
Loose powder applied with a big brush helps to dab up grease and oil on your face and gives you a light, flawless cover on your skin. Foundations can be too heavy, and with the “glow” caused by the heat, you’ll want your shiny spots as un-shiny as possible.

Just Mascara
Skip all other makeup besides perhaps lip gloss and use just mascara on your eyes. A waterproof mascara will help your eyes look big and bright in your face and it will resist melting off the way eye shadow is prone to do.

Easy Ways to Look Older

There is a general sense among teens that they would like to look older. If that’s the case with you, you’ll need to do a few things with your make up games and your hairstyle to create the right effect.

Use Lipstick
Younger girls can instantly look older by using real lipstick – not just gloss. If older ladies are told to wear lip gloss to minimize the effects of aging, you should do exactly the opposite and put on a dark lipstick so that you appear older.

Balance Your Make-up
To look older, you’ll want to almost fly under the radar, so you’ll want to balance your make-up with that heavier lipstick. A heavy lipstick means you’ll need a heavier face. Opt for foundation, blush, powder, eye-shadow, mascara and even eyeliner to make your look complete.

Style Your Hair
Younger girls tend to wear their hair down without a set style. Looking older means you have a particular style to your hair. Roll your bangs to make them stand out, or pull your hair up into a sophisticated knot at the back of your head. Create a look by pulling your hair up away from your face rather than letting it hang youthfully.
