Cleaning Up Make Up Games

After you play make up games, it’s very important to clean up properly. Cleaning up ensures your sink or vanity area stays clean, your make up stays clean and doesn’t get lost, and that your face is also scrubbed clean at the end of the day.

Clean Up Spills – If you were applying loose power of any kind, it’s extremely likely that some spilled on the counter or the dresser. Use a damp washcloth to simply wipe up the spill. If it got on the floor, a broom or vacuum will take care of the problem.

Clean Up Make Up and Applicators – If you notice your brushes getting stiff or your make up getting gunky, it’s time to clean those brushes and applicators and possibly clean out your make up. Make up has a shelf life. You don’t want to be using expired make up.

Clean Up Your Face – Nothing is more necessary after a good make up game than cleaning your face. Wash your face well to remove all make up and then apply moisturizer and cream to keep your skin ultra-hydrated and fresh for anther day of make up games.

Making Up Make Up Games

If you like make up games, you’ve surely noticed how much fun it is to make up you own versions of the game. If you like to do make up, you’re a creative individual. Creative individuals don’t like to be trapped inside a box of rules and regulations, so when it comes to your games, there shouldn’t be any.

When you make up your own make up games, all you need to do is remember the basics of any make up game:

  • Use clean products and be sure to clean your brushes after applying makeup on anyone but yourself. You don’t want to spread germs or rashes.
  • Wash your face both before and after you apply make up to be sure you’re not putting make up on an already oily face. Leaving it on at night is a sure way to wind up with acne. Keep your skin clean!
  • Use the right amount of make up for your age and game. If you’re playing a game at home, it doesn’t matter if you’re completely slathered with make up. But if you’re planning on going to school with a new look, you’ll want to be sure your make up isn’t too much for campus.

Make Up Games: Movie Makeup

Ever wondered what it take to make stars looks as great as they do? If you’ve been lucky enough to find a tabloid that has pictures of celebs without their make-up you already know that they often look a lot like us – until they are done up in their movie make-up.

You can play your own make up game by applying the thick coats of make-up used on stage and in the movies for a production of your own. I wouldn’t advise it for school as it might be a bit excessive.

Head to a costume shop or specialty make-up store and explain your desire to do stage or movie make up. You’ll likely be pointed to thicker versions of the kind of make-up you’re already used to. This make-up is designed to smooth your skin and hide anything not-perfect from the audience, so it will feel very heavy on your face.

Apply it like any other make-up, but be sure to apply enough to be seen from a distance. Keep it natural, but strong – You might put on eyeshadow, but use full strokes and do the whole eyelid, not just the lash line.

When you’re ready, turn on your own camera and record a few videos. Then check out how great you looked on camera – just like the stars!

How to Cover a Zit or Pimple

There are times that make up games really pay off – like when you wake up to discover you don’t just have a tender spot on your face – you have a full blown acne emergency. Relax if you can, and certainly don’t pick! Popping that pimple or zit might make things worse by opening up the sore to infection or making the infected area bigger and redder.

Wash and Wear
If you can, you should take your lumps and leave the zit exposed to the air. Air without any kind of make-up or clogging material is the best way to treat a zit short of a special acne medicine. If you’re tough enough, take your lumps in the best way possible – throw on some mascara and lip gloss and pretend it’s not there.

Conceal It
But if you just can’t stand it, concealing a zit isn’t too challenging if you know what you’re doing. Your first step will be to rummage through your make up to find a yellow-tinted concealer. Yellow will help make the red appear less, so you want to find a concealer close to your skin tone without being more than one shade off in either direction. And that concealer should have a yellow tone, even if your skin doesn’t.

Wash your face and treat with any acne medicine. Some people put a bit of toothpaste on a zit to dry it out, but I’m not going to recommend that. Once your spot is clean, don’t pop the zit. Instead, carefully dab a bit of concealer on after applying your base. Smooth the concealer out around the edges to blend with your makeup and dust over everything with powder. The spot will likely still be raised, but it won’t be a glaring red sign of acne any more.

When Acne Strikes

It’s happened to everyone, and if it hasn’t happened to you, it will eventually. You wake up in the morning and feel the tender spot of a zit forming or see the pimple ready and waiting on your nose. What do you do when acne strikes? No make-up game prepared you for this!

Assess the Situation
If you have a raised spot, it’s going to be pretty clear no matter what you do, although can try to diminish the redness with concealer. If you have a zit that you can feel, but the world can’t see – count your blessings. Don’t acknowledge it and maybe it will just go away.

Wash Your Face
The first step is to wash your face. Acne is caused by oil, make-up and dirt in the pores. If you have a blemish, your first step is to clean it to hopefully remove the dirty stuff and help it heal faster. You should be washing you face with a mild cleanser every night to avoid these little guys, but sometimes they happen anyway.

Use a Toner
Grab your alcohol based toner and a cotton ball to do a spot treatment. Apply a dab of toner to the blemish to help dry it out and finish cleaning out the infected pore.

Don’t Squeeze!
As tempting as it might be, avoid squeezing the zit or pimple. This will actually open the pore up more and could cause infection and a worse blemish. Keep it clean until the spot goes away on its own.

What Does Your Lipstick Say About You?

Lipstick and lip gloss says a lot to others about what you might be up to or what kind of person you are. Yes, we should never judge others based on appearances, but haven’t you ever just wondered what someone else is up to in glossy red lipstick?

Bold Lip Colors
Dark lipsticks and bright reds are symbols of being grown up and ready for a party. You don’t see many bright red lips during the day when make-up is more subdued, but at night, the real make up games begin. Sport your shiny red lips and let every see how kissable they are.

Pinks and Peaches
Pink and peach lips are pretty and nonthreatening. They are perfect for the day at school or work. Very neutral, these are always an option for just about everyone.

Gloss
Lip gloss is suitable for people of all ages, and is fine for all occasions. It’s the totally universal lip wear. The only thing you might see more is Chapstick, and you can’t see that at all.

Sparkle
If your lips sparkle, you’re saying one of two things. The first is that you are young and having a great time playing make up games. The second is that you’re ready for a bit of dazzling night-life. Have fun!

Skin Care 101

As you start to grow up, your skin takes the brunt of the hormones and other changes in your body. You used to just run a washcloth over your face and be done with it, but now you need to take care of your face with the right kinds of products to battle oily skin.

Soap
Start by washing your face with a facial soap. There are plenty out there, so find one that suits your complexion. If you have acne, find a soap to help reduce it. If you have dry skin, a moisturizing soap will help. Wash your face every night with a mild face soap and be sure to never sleep in make-up. Wash it all off.

Toner
Every three nights or so, use a toner to clean your skin more deeply. A toner is based on alcohol, so too much too often can dry out your skin in a bad way, but every so often, a toner can help to penetrate pores and lift some of the deeply embedded grime away.
Moisturize
Just like you wash your face every night, be sure you use a good moisturizer every night. At night apply a deep moisturizer that is not oil based. Look for one that says oil-free or is part of the acne clearing line of products. Use a light moisturizer with sunscreen every morning to keep your skin young and healthy for years to come.

Create an Evening Look

Evening make up is more complicated than the fresh day-time look we wear so easily. To create an evening look, you’ll need:
  • Face lotion
  • Foundation
  • Powder and Brush
  • Blush and Brush
  • Highlighter
  • Lipstick
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner Pencil
  • Eye Shadow
Start by washing your face and applying lotion. Then carefully smooth on the foundation. Dust your face lightly with power to set the foundation and you’re ready to begin. Sweep a covering of blush up the apples of your cheeks. Make a fish face to find the best indentions to use. You can be a bit liberal with blush so long as you don’t look like a clown when you’re through.

Move on to the eyes. Apply a bit of highlighter to the inside of each eye and along the bottom eyelashes. Apply a light eyeshadow on the top lid and then the darker shade along the crease of the eyelid. Extend the dark shadow up and out a bit to elongate the eye and then use a brush to blend. Put a dark line of eyeliner along your lashes – in the lashes not on top of them. Finally, apply two coats of mascara to bottom and top lashes.

Your last step is lipstick. I like bold colors for nights, but be sure you invest in the kind that doesn’t kiss off – you might kiss someone, but most likely you’ll just want to avoid getting lipstick on your teeth and cup.

Pouty Lips

Angelina’s back in the news and although it’s not for her beautiful mouth, seeing her smiling over the twins reminds us how great her lips really are. If you weren’t blessed with Angelina style lips, you can still get a great pout if you apply your make up properly.

Invest in a thick lip pencil the same shade as your pink or peach lipstick. You’ll also need a high shimmer lip gloss.

Fill in your lips with the thick pencil. You should outline you lips carefully to stay inside the lines. Going outside the lines might make it seem as though your lips are fuller, but in reality you just look like a clown. Stay in the lines and fill your lips in with the pencil to make your entire lip the same pink color.

Then go over your lips with lipstick. This shade should match the pencil. The lipstick will give your lips a bit more definition and polish. The final step, however, is to emphasize the pout. You do this by putting a single line of shimmer gloss on the middle of the bottom lip. This makes the bottom lip look fuller and much more kissable.
