Wind-Proof Make Up

The wind in the fall and winter can be brutal, especially to a carefully made up face. The stinging wind can strip your face of moisture, and just when you think that’s bad, the wind makes your eyes tear up and you find your make up running, your face chapping and wish you could just wash it all off and crawl back in bed to rest.

You don’t need to give up, although more rest is always good.

Start with a thick coat of lotion and foundation. The dry winter wind strips moisture from everywhere, not just your face. Apply lotion everywhere every day and put on a thicker layer of moisturizer on your face. Be sure to use a sunscreen in your moisturizer to keep your face protected – the sun isn’t just a worry in the summer months.

Use waterproof eye makeup. Your eyes might run from the changed in temperature and humidity, so be prepared with waterproof eye makeup. A big pair of sunglasses will help to protect your eyes (and eye make up from the wind as well.)

Use blush. The wind will likely make your face red, and you might be tempted to skip blush. But using blush helps the redness from the wind look a bit more planned and taken care of while it fades back to a normal tone.
