Make Up Games: Boys Wearing Make Up

Should boys wear make-up? It’s up to the boy, but if you have friends that think it would be fun to try out some mascara and eyeliner to make a gothic or creepy Halloween look, you can certainly help.

Some boys wear make up all the time just like girls. These are boys who are looking for a dramatic rock star look or boys who happen to prefer the oil free glow of a fresh face, in other words, the boys are models or want to become models. Most boys would never food with makeup unless their girlfriend pushed them to try it.

If you’re going to put make up on a boy, start with three basics – eyeliner, mascara and maybe chapstick. Boys don’t usually wear base or powder as these are too much like “girly” make-up items to use, but they might be willing to ring their eyes in liner to get that intense brooding punk look.

Help your guy apply black eyeliner around his eyes staying inside the lash line. Boys should probably line the whole eye – not just the top of the eye as girls do. Think of the boy makeup more like theater makeup than “normal.” Finish off the lined eyes with mascara and a bit of chapstick and your guy is good to go – until he gets tired of the game and washes it all off again.

Make Up Games: Halloween Glitter

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times – glitter is out and shimmer is in. Except on Halloween, of course. Halloween is all about bold costumes and getting noticed. The other exception would be when you’re on stage in a competition or pageant – glitter is okay then as you must be seen from a distance.

But regardless of distance, this Halloween, you can enjoy your glitter in many different forms without worrying that you’re using too much or putting it in the wrong places.

The best places to put glitter as part of your Halloween costume is in your hair, on your shoulders and around your eyes and forehead. If you think about pixie dust, you can better understand how glitter should be used. If Tinkerbell were to dust you in glitter, where would it land? In your hair, on your shoulders, on your cheeks, forehead and eyelids, You might get a bit in your cleavage, too, but that’s risky.

When applying glitter, it is always best to start by applying a very thin coat followed by another. There’s a point of too much glitter, so taking baby steps with your glitter will help you avoid reaching that point.

Make Up Games: Becoming a Kitty Cat!

One of the most enjoyable Halloween costumes you can wear is a cat suit. You can be a cat just by wearing a leotard, tights, ears and safety pinning a tail to your hind end. Of course, your cat suit won’t be complete without a suitable cat face.

You can make your cat face authentic by gluing on whiskers, but for our simple kitty cat face, we’ll go with the drawn on variety.

After applying base, use a heavy black eyeliner to outline the top and bottom of your eyes. Stretch the outside of the eye up and out by making a sweeping stroke out to the side of each eye. This gives you the upturned eyes of a cat. Apply false eyelashes if you have some and then apply a few heavy coats of mascara.

Take a black face paint or pencil and color in a triangle nose – the wide part of the triangle should be on the bottom. A delicate nose is best, but your nose can be as wide as you’d like.

Once your nose is in place, draw two curving lines down from the nose (between your nostrils) to be your mouth. Finally draw in a few whiskers on either side of your painted nose – if you have costume whiskers, you’d glue them on with eyelash glue.

Make Up Games: Fairy Faces

Have you ever wanted to make a fairy face? Halloween is the perfect time to test your make up game abilities by creating a beautiful glowing ambiance suitable to a fairy.

Start with a good washing and then apply a moisturizer. You’ll want your face hydrated and protected from the face paints that are to come. Use a heavy base on your entire face and blend it carefully into your neck. Don’t yet apply powder

Use grease paints or Halloween face paints to create vines, cobwebs and butterflies on your face. Fairy make up games should be delicate, so opt for pastels and keep your designs light. A scrolling vine and flowers down your cheek might be an option or you might want to crown your brow with scrollwork and color.

When you have your designs complete, dust your face lightly with glitter. You can apply a bit of extra glitter over the area you just colored if you’d like. Finally, cover your entire face with a transparent power, like your face powder, to help blend the paint into your normal make-up – this makes it appear as though it is part of your face, a bit muted, but still sparkly.
