Make Up Games and the Office

I read an article the other day that said you must wear make up to be taken serious in the office. I’m not sure if I agree completely, but there is probably some merit to the article. In this particular piece, the author was trying to help young people understand how important it is to dress well and play make up games. I think it’s all a matter of opinion.  There are many successful women who don’t slather on a full face of make up every day anyhow.

I don’t normally wear make up to work, so playing intense make up games every day would drive me nuts. What I do use, however, is a heavy duty moisturizer and highlighter to ensure that my face looks healthy and clean. A bit of mascara and some lip gloss completes the look. If you have nice skin tone you can present a clean and healthy face to the world every day without layers of make up. Think of this as make up games for good reason.

Make Up Games and Funky Eyeliner

Everywhere I look these days I’m finding girls – and guys – rocking some interesting eyeliner. These make up games are fun to look at, of course, and I’ll admit that I’m intrigued by them. What would I look like if I were wearing bold eyeliner? Perhaps I should add a few swipes for the day and find out. Should I use white liner? Black liner? Maybe I need a bit of extra flare with cat eyes and little dots.

Before anyone ever tries to play make up games with eyeliner, you absolutely have to go through a training process. Fortunately, there are many different videos and instructional how-tos out there now that will show you how to apply all sorts of make up items, including wild eyeliner. Practice at home first and be sure that you’re comfortable with the look you’re creating. Once you head to school with wild eyeliner, you’re set for the day, so you want to be sure that you’ve mastered it before you leave!

Make Up Games and Fake Eyelashes

I’m starting to wonder if all the make up games with fake eyelashes are really necessary. Every time I turn around I find someone else wearing a bit batch of fake eyelashes. Dark, luscious lashes are absolutely all the rage – who doesn't want to look like a sultry diva with half-closed, sexy eyes? But the problem is this: no matter how realistic the fake eyelashes are designed to be, they still just look so very fake.

Take for example the recent episode of Glee. Rachel was sporting her super sexy look and trying to seduce the new college boy. She was staring at him with some serious intensity – her eyes closed, she looked sexy and I couldn't look away from the big, black fake eyelashes she was wearing. Sure her outfit was complete.

She looked the part, but it bothered me that the fake eyelashes were so fake that they didn’t even look real in onscreen make up games. I can’t imagine there would ever be any that appeared real when you’re looking someone face-to-face. Perhaps we should just ban them from “real life” and just enjoy fake eyelashes as part of a costume.
