Make Up Games and Glasses

I wear glasses a lot of the time because they are easier for me than dealing with contacts on my longer days. My glasses fall under the geek chic category, but they do make it hard sometimes to decide what to do about make up. I don’t want to wear make up sometimes because it feels like the glasses aren’t as suited to me face then, but then make up games should be able to accompany glasses easily, so I feel guilty by not taking the time to put some make up on in the mornings. It does make you think about the best make up games to play when you wear glasses.

The basics of make up games apply to all faces – clean, moisturize and apply a light base. A light coating of powder cuts out shine and gives you a smooth surface to work from. A bit of blush brings your cheeks to life and makes your face appear bright and cheerful. It’s the eyes that have it though – your glasses cover much of your eyes, so you’ll need to ramp up your eye make up games to compensate for this. Wear your eye make up a bit heavier than you would if you weren’t wearing glasses and it should show through just fine.

Make Up Games and Fall

Fall is all about a bit of dark sparkle and some earth tones when it comes to make up games. The make up games of spring and summer were light and pretty with pinks and peaches, but now that the cooler weather is settling in, you need to update your make up games with some darker neutrals. Now is the time to play the make up games that were off limits in the hot months – you can now get away with taupe and dark brown eye shadows and plenty of eyeliner and mascara.

The real message of fall is about nature. When looking at your make up games, choose colors that naturally appear in nature. Dark greens, all shades of brown and gray and plenty of deep reds and purples are beautiful in the fall. If you get a picture of a autumnal fairy, you’ll have the right inspiration – pale face, dark eyes ringed with lashes and large berry-stained lips. Your make up games can be light or heavy depending on the time of day and event, but it’s time to embrace the earth and enjoy it’s most beautiful tones.

Make Up Games and Skin Care

Since I don’t play many make up games at the moment, I’m more interested in skin care than anything else. I like to think that I am protecting my skin from the ravages of time so that someday I can pay attention again to what my face actually looks like in make up and perhaps develop a solid make up routine I can live with. Of course, I won’t be able to stop all of the aging process, but I’m hopeful I can make a difference on some level by taking care of my skin.

The extent of my make up games these days range from the proper face wash to the right creams for day and night. Moisture is essential for taking care of your skin, of course, so I have a cream for day time and a cream for nights to help soothe and polish my skin. I wash my face with an exfoliating cleanser to remove the dry and damaged skin. I then apply a day cream that helps to protect the skin from the sun. At night, I wash my face again with a gentle cleanser before applying a heavy night cream to moisturize and help tighten the skin to prevent any real signs of aging as long as possible.

Make Up Games and Colored Eye Shadow

I’ll admit I’m not sure what I think about the new trend of wearing colored eye shadows. I’ve always been all for fun shades on the eyes, but those all ranged within a neutral palette or perhaps a shimmery metallic. Today I’m seeing bold colors on the eyes that match the outfit of the wearer, not just her face or style. As far as make up games go, this is a fun way to experiment with color, but I’m not entirely sure it’s a look I support on anyone over the age of seventeen.

Young girls can get away with brightly colored eye shadow as part of their make up games, but those of us who have to pretend to be adults need to spend a bit of time thinking about overall image and presentation – not just what looks great in a fashion magazine. We’ve all known for a long time that the hottest fashions just aren’t right for all of us. It’s possible to be in style without being seen in the most interesting of the new designs. I, for one, rank this make up game of the bright green, blue and red eye shadows up there with skinny jeans – workable for a very few.

Make Up Games and Strange Eye Shadows

It’s important to have fun when you’re young – I get that. I’m okay with it. But I’m not sure I completely understand the need for some teenage girls to wear two different colors of brightly toned eye shadow every day. Today, one of the girls at school had a combination of hot pink and black eye shadow. The inside of her eyelids were black with a swoop of black shadow down to her tear duct – actually touching her nose, really. The outside of her eye was hot pink, swooping up into a point. The effect was interesting, and it suited her particular style, but it seemed out of place at high school.

Most bold eye shadow and other make up games are best suited for evenings. In the evening you can go rather wild and do just about anything you want to do to make your eyes stand out. After all, it’s dark and you’re likely going somewhere that’s dimly lit. In the bright hallways of the public school system, however, I’m not sure that the strange eye shadow is the right form of make up game to be playing. Did it distract me, not really, but it did keep dragging me away from some other random thoughts. Would I do any crazy eye shadow make up games during the school day? Probably not, but then that could be a sign that I’m just not wild enough.
