Make Up Games and Sunscreen

I haven’t had very good luck finding a moisturizer that also contains sunscreen. The moisturizers I’ve been able to find tend to sweat off easily, especially those that are tinted. I’m not sure why that is, but living in a part of the world where summers have days well over ninety and plenty of humidity, my face stays moist and often a bit clammy all day every day. When I put on moisturizer, I want a type that makes my face feel clean and fresh while also protecting it from the sun.

Getting adequate sun protection can be hard enough if you’re outside as much as I am, which is why I try to work it in with my sunscreen. It doesn’t always work, but it’s always worth a try to apply the sunscreen through the moisturizer so that I don’t forget to put on sunscreen later when I’m outside for an extended period of time and so that I have protection for the shorter periods of time that I’m outside without applying a full sunscreen application.

Make Up Games and Night Cream

It’ likely you have a face cream to wear during the day. Hopefully it has plenty of sunscreen and oil-free moisturizers, but do you have the special night creams? Having the proper night cream can give you a huge advantage when it comes to protecting your face from damage and the visible signs of aging. Night creams aren’t often cheap, but the price you pay is directly tied to the benefits you can get from the right cream.

At night after a full day of make-up, use a cold cream to remove the make-up and wash your face. Then, on the clean face, apply a night cream designed to moisturize and improve the quality of your skin. The night cream is likely going to be heavy on your face and it might even feel a bit greasy. This is the rich moisture in the cream that will help to nourish your skin deeply while you sleep. Apply the night cream according to the instructions on the container and drink plenty of water. In the morning you’ll wake up with skin just a bit smoother and a bit softer than it was the day before.

Make Up Games: Give Your Skin a Break!

Do you wear your make up all day, every day? If you do, you might be making it a bit tough on your face. Your face has especially delicate skin, especially around the eyes. Slathering on make up every day can cause break-outs and irritation if you’re not using the right type for your skin. But on a more primitive level, having something on your face every day of the week starts to feel old. You get used to having it there and you forget what it feels like when your skin is free to just breathe.

Make up can make us look wonderful, but you can look great without it, too. Play some basic make up games to see how little make up you can get away with and still look pulled together. Do you need sixteen make up items every morning? Perhaps just five will do. And best of all, as soon as you know you’re done for the day and just hanging out at home, take the make up off and just let your skin breathe again.

Make Up Games and the Beach

I’m aware that it’s not especially clever to wear make up to the beach where you’ll really just be focusing on swimming and playing around with friends, but as we all know, there are boys at the beach and it’s important to look our best while we’re there. So, it’s great to throw on a bit of make up before you head to the beach to be sure you’re looking great and still able to play the way you want to.

Skip any foundation or powder. Your sweat underneath this coating of make up will feel gross and might make you break out. Use a tinted sunscreen on your face instead to protect you from the sun and to give you a bit of color. Look for one that’s waterproof if you can find one, but if you have to choose, opt for the waterproof sunscreen over the moisturizer. Then apply a lip balm with some sunscreen in it to protect the sensitive skin there. Your final step is a swipe of waterproof mascara for your eyes. Now you look a bit more pulled together but can splish and splash without worry.
